Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded today to a two-vehicle crash on County Trunk U in the town of Cold Spring.
According to information released by Sheriff Travis Maze, the crash occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m.
A preliminary investigation found that a vehicle traveling eastbound on County Trunk U crossed the center line and struck a vehicle heading westbound.
Drivers in each vehicle were reported as the only occupants.
As stated in the release, the driver of the eastbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the westbound vehicle was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
No other details about the drivers were released.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Fort Atkinson Fire Department, the Whitewater Police and Fire Departments, and the Jefferson County medical examiner.
The incident remains under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, according to the release.
