One of five finalists for provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater has withdrawn her candidacy for the job.
UW-Whitewater announced that Dr. Lavonne Cornell-Swanson gave no reason for her decision to drop out of consideration for the position.
Currently the associate provost for faculty and student affairs at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, she graduated from UW-Whitewater with a degree in social work in 1980.
An 11-member search-and-screen committee, co-chaired by Frank Goza, dean of the College of Letters and Sciences, and Artanya Wesley, vice chancellor for student affairs, recommended the slate of finalists to UW-Whitewater Chancellor Dwight Watson after a national search.
The remaining four finalists are:
• Jeanine Gangeness, associate vice president for academic affairs at Rochester, Winona State University.
• David Travis, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs and student success at UW-River Falls.
• Daniel Moon, associate provost for academic and student affairs at the University of North Florida.
• John Chenoweth, dean of the College of Business and Economics at UW-Whitewater.
