Editor’s note: the following endorsement of a political candidate was released Jan. 18. by officials of the Tom Nelson campaign and submitted for publication. Nelson is running for a seat on the U.S. Senate. Political endorsements released by candidates running for office are not an endorsement of that candidate made by Fort Atkinson Online. According to information submitted by campaign members working for U.S. Senate candidate Tom Nelson, veteran legislator Tony Staskunas today endorsed Tom Nelson for U.S. Senate, citing Nelson’s commitment to public service.

As cited within the release: “Staskunas has over three decades of legislative experience, beginning his legislative career as Alderman of the City of West Allis from 1988 to 1997. He was then elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly, where he served from 1997 to 2013. Today, Staskunas serves on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors as Chair of the Judiciary, Safety and General Services Committee and as a member of the Intergovernmental Relations Committee.”

Of Nelson, Staskunas was quoted as saying in the release: “I served with Tom in the state Assembly. I know him to be a committed public servant and tireless worker who always puts his constituents first. We need a Senator who understands the needs of working families and will well represent and serve them in the U.S. Senate. It is for that reason that I wholeheartedly endorse him for the U.S. Senate.”
