Tuesday marks the primary election, and we’d like to congratulate all the candidates whose names are on the ballot.
The simple fact that primaries are necessary shows the high level of interest in local government. And that, indeed, merits a pat on the back.
Traditionally, turnout is rather lackluster for primary elections, but we hope that won’t be the case this time around. After all, it only takes one vote to win an election.
On the spring primary ballot Tuesday are six candidates for the School District of Fort Atkinson Board of Education: Matt Loup, Rebecca Van Ess, Robynn Selle, Sam LaMuro, Dale Prisk and Christopher J. Rogers.
If you haven’t done so already, become informed about the candidates’ backgrounds and views by reading our voter’s guide: https://fortatkinsononline.com/february-primary-voters-guide-fort-school-board-candidates-share-experience-views/.
Electors may vote for up to two candidates. The four receiving the highest number of votes will advance to the general election, which will be held in April.
The ones who move on to the spring ballot and then eventually win office will be deciding everything from what your children are taught and when classroom technology is updated to how the district is addressing the pandemic and whether your tax dollars are being spent wisely. The issues are wide-ranging and important.
This primary marks the first step in making sure your views are well represented by your public officials.
See you at the polls.
