Pet owners living within the city of Fort Atkinson are reminded to renew their dog and cat licenses by March 31.
According to Wisconsin State Statutes, evidence of unexpired rabies vaccination is required for all cats and dogs before a license can be issued. The City of Fort Atkinson will not license any animal without proof of current vaccination, information recently released by the city stated.
The cost for pet licenses for altered dogs and cats is $10 and the cost for unaltered dogs and cats is $15. A $5 late fee will apply per animal to those registered after the deadline, the released information continued.
Licenses may be obtained at the city clerk’s office, 101 North Main St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is an after-hours drop box on the North Water Street West side of the Municipal Building between Main Street and the Parks and Recreation door. Those using the after-hours drop box should include a self-addressed stamped envelope to return tags.
A list of delinquent licenses will be turned over to the police department for further action after April 1, according to the release.
Those who had an animal licensed with the city last year and no longer have that animal, should call the city office at 920-563-7760 so the animal may be removed from the database.
