The Fort Atkinson Police Department is asking the public for its help in locating Scott McDaniel, a Fort Atkinson resident who disappeared from a residential group home over two weeks ago.
Capt. Chad Lange, of the Fort Atkinson Police Department, verified information that was recently released through the state’s Crime Alert Network, identifying McDaniel as an endangered missing person, and noting that McDaniel was last seen on Oct. 5 at 5:30 p.m.
McDaniel remains missing at this time, Lange said Thursday.
According to information earlier released by the Fort Atkinson Police Department, McDaniel was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black shirt. He is 41 years old, tall and thin.
An endangered missing persons alert was issued by the police department on Oct. 19.
According to the alert, McDaniel left his adult group home on foot after a fire alarm caused the evacuation of the building.
McDaniel is schizophrenic and does not have his medications with him, the alert stated, adding that McDaniel has been incarcerated in the past for attempting to kill has parents, believing them to be imposters.
McDaniel does not have access to a car, according to police.
A statewide alert was issued, police noted, because McDaniel has made statements that he planned to go to Los Angeles to live on the streets.
The alert noted that McDaniel, on Oct. 5, traveled by cab to Mukwonago, arriving at an old elementary school friend’s house whom he hadn’t seen in years.
He was returned to Fort Atkinson on Oct. 5 by the former schoolmate’s parents, but exited the car just south of the city.
If seen, the public is advised not to approach McDaniel, but instead notify law enforcement. The Fort Atkinson Police Department can be reached at 920-563-7777. Reference case number 21-10834.
