Raymond H. Gustafson, age 78, died November 3, 2024, with family at his side. He was born in Racine, WI, on December 13, 1945. He later moved to Chicago and then California to study Business and Mortuary Science. He became a resident of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast for over 20 years. He returned home to Wisconsin in 2015 to be near family.
Over his years, Ray traveled all over the world and enjoyed cruising. He was also very involved in Mardi Gras for many years. He was proud to be a Duke of Iris in 1997 and King of Iris in 2001. After his return to Wisconsin, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Everyone who met him enjoyed his company. He was well known as “Uncle Ray” to his nephew-in-law’s family and many of his nephew and niece’s friends.
Church was a very important part of his life, and he met many wonderful friends through his congregation at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents Richard Harold and Minnie Lucille Gustafson, brother Richard Howard Gustafson, and good friend Dr. John Williams, Jr. He is survived by his brother James (Shelley) Gustafson, nephew Aric Gustafson, niece Erin (Michael) Nichols, great niece Madison Nichols and great nephew August Nichols.
A mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson.
Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
