Richardson, Hart win RKLD Board of Commissioner seats

Following Saturday’s annual meeting of electors, the Rock-Koshkonong Lake District (RKLD) has announced that two incumbents, Eric Richardson and Mike Hart, will each serve another term in office.

On Saturday, the incumbents faced two challengers, including Henry Chamberlain, whose name appeared on the preprinted ballot, and Carolyn Schiffner, who was nominated from the meeting floor.

After votes were tallied, Hart received 101 votes; Richardson, 94; Chamberlain,  74, and Schiffner, 54.

Board of commissioner seats carry three-year terms.

According to information released by the board, 157 ballots were cast Saturday, although one was excluded from the process because “the voter intent could not be verified.”

In addition, upon completion of the annual meeting, a regular monthly board meeting commenced, at which time the new board selected officers for the upcoming year. They are: Alan Sweeney, who was elected to serve again as board chairperson; Susan Shearer, who was elected to continue in her role as board secretary, and Mark Meyer, who will continue in his role as board treasurer.

The Rock-Koshkonong Lake District Board of Commissioners is a seven-person body which is responsible for the operation of the Indiandford Dam. The dam, which is governed by an operating order enacted by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, controls water levels on Lake Koshkonong and a segment of the Rock River.
