Rolling Bookstore comes to Purdy

Purdy Elementary School in Fort Atkinson has kicked off a new reward program titled the Purdy Rolling Bookstore.

Each month, students receive a sheet to track their reading. If they complete 20 minutes of reading, or being read to for the early readers, for 20 days, students earn the chance to go “shopping” at the Purdy Rolling Bookstore, according to information recently released by the school.

Principal Leigh Ann Scheuerell took the bookstore around the school for its first time this past week. Students were excited to see the cart and those who completed their 20/20 challenge had fun selecting a book, the release noted.

In addition, the Dwight Foster Public Library supplied fun bookmarks to go along with each book.

The books for the cart were supplied by the Purdy Parent-Teacher Organization. Planet Chaos is supplying a variety of comic books and graphic novels, the release continued.

Individuals or businesses interested in supporting this new program may make a monetary donation to go toward purchasing books. Contact the Purdy main office at 920-563-7822 or send a donation to Purdy Elementary School, attention: bookstore, 719 S. Main St., Fort Atkinson, WI 53538.
