Eight members of the School District of Fort Atkinson’s Safety Patrol program, two from each of the district’s four elementary schools, have been chosen as April’s Safety Patrollers of the Month, according to Purdy Elementary School Principal Leigh Ann Scheuerell.
The students, all of whom are in fifth grade, were selected by their teachers for outstanding duty to their assigned posts where they served for a month as crossing guards.
The safety patrollers help their fellow students get across the streets near their respective elementary schools safely before and after school, Scheuerell said.
As part of the recognition, lunch was provided for the students courtesy of McDonalds in Fort Atkinson, Scheuerell added.
