The Fort Atkinson Community Band has announced that it will be performing its final concert of the summer season Monday, Aug. 14, at Barrie Park, 210 Robert St., Fort Atkinson.
Fort Atkinson Community Band Director Wayne Crook said he will “begin (waving) the baton” at 7 p.m. with music compiled under a theme “summer favorites,” according to a news release.
Music included within the summer favorites theme repertoire was selected through a voting process offered to concert-goers attending previously held performances and band members.
Violinist Angela Licari will be among featured performers, and will perform a well-known Hungarian folk song, titled: “Czardas,” according to the release.
In addition, a trio of soloists, including Zack Oster, who will play the clarinet, Adrian Pierce, who will play the trumpet, and Lisa Amacher, who will play the trombone, will assemble in the bandshell to perform “Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue.” The trio will be accompanied by the full band.
An ice cream social, sponsored by the Life of Christ Church, will be held during the concert, with treats made available for purchase from 6:30 p.m. until the concert’s conclusion.
Should the evening bring inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to Trinity Lutheran Church, 314 Barrie St., Fort Atkinson, the release noted.
Concerts are free and open to the public. The public is reminded to bring chairs and blankets. Some chair are provided through the city’s Parks and Recreation department.
Monday’s program will include the following musical pieces: “Ukriane National Anthem,” “Star Spangled Banner,” “Bonnie Annie Laurie March,” “Just A Closer Walk With Thee,” “Instant Concert,” “Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue,” “Queen in Concert,” “Chattanooga Chu Chu,” “Czardas,” “Rock Around The Clock,” “Yellow Bird,” “Hootenanny Folk Festival,” “Alexanders Ragtime Band,” and “God Bless America.”
