Editor’s note: The following information was released by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on May 10:
Jefferson County Sheriff Paul Milbrath reports that starting in early April through this past weekend, three Jefferson County residents in the towns of Jefferson, Concord and Ixonia have been the victims of daytime residential burglaries.
All of the burglaries occurred while the residents were home. In all cases, a lone male suspect approached the occupants of the homes and advised them that utility work was going to be occurring in the vicinity of their homes. The suspect is described as being in his 30s, 5’9” to 6-feet tall, with dark hair and acne scars on his face, and he may speak with a possible Hispanic accent. Suspect vehicle is described as a newer white Chevrolet pickup truck with unknown license plates.
The suspect discussed property lines and possibility of power outages which caused the homeowners to exit their homes. In one incident, the suspect had a two-way radio and talked with another unknown suspect about his distance from the residence. It is believed that the second suspect then entered the homes while the homeowners were distracted and burglarized the homes.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office requests that all citizens be on the alert for anyone coming to their residence with a similar approach and story. It is recommended that all citizens first ask to see the company photo identification card for anyone who comes to their home claiming to work for a company, especially if they arrive without prior notice from the company. Do not let them into your home or allow them to draw you away from your house and immediately call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 920-674-7310. Anyone with specific information related to this type of activity is encouraged to contact Detective Vaughn Johnson at the number above.
