Shirley Ann Rehdantz, age 94, of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Rainbow Hospice Care in Watertown, Wisconsin.
Shirley was born on October 4, 1929, in Portage, the daughter of Carl and Fanny (Hawes) Balliet. She was married to William Walker in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1980. In 1983, Shirley married Gordon Rehdantz. He preceded her in death in 2004. She had worked at Atkinson’s, Gambles, Spurgeon’s and Wilz Drug Store. Shirley was a long-time member of Portage United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Odanah Circle and Women’s Civic League of Portage. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, especially euchre, and reading. She had a collection of butterflies.
She is survived by her children, Susan (Andrew) Leahy, Sally (Andrew) Koehler, and Brent (Pam) Walker; her sister, Cloe Rehdantz; her stepchildren, James (Ruth) Rehdantz, Paul Rehdantz, and Debra (Don) Wolterstorff; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Robert Walker, her husbands, brother-in-law, Robert Rehdantz, sister-in-law, Phyllis Balliet, step-daughter-in-law, Linda Goyette, and brother, Melvin Balliet.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Portage United Methodist Church, with Rev. KwangYu Lee officiating. Private inurnment will be in Silver Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Portage United Methodist Church or Zona Gale Women’s Civic League of Portage.
