The Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that SJWHomemade has joined as a new member.
According to information released by the chamber, not all products sold at the Fort Atkinson Farmers Market are for people, and as this year’s market gets ready to welcome shoppers in May, one vendor is equally interested in welcoming their canine companions: SJWHomemade.
The Fort Atkinson-based micro business specializes in fresh, homemade dog treats and is a longtime vendor at the Fort Atkinson Farmers Market, according to the chamber release.
Sarah Weh founded SJWHomemade in 2010, when she was in middle school. She began the business as a means by which to support her Irish dancing hobby and then her college career. She is also a dog lover, the release stated.
SJWHomemade dog treats are made from local, organic ingredients and come in four flavors: bacon; peanut butter; pumpkin, which, the release states, is gluten free and good for a dog’s digestive system; apple and oats, which is gluten and dairy free.
Cat owners, too, can find something special for their pets. SJWHomemade carries catnip toys made from up-cycled textiles and locally grown organic catnip and cat grass, the release noted.
“You can find me at the Fort Farmers Market on Saturdays, and the Monona Farmers Market on Sundays. I love the community that is built within the farmers market and meeting my customers in person. That is why I continue to sell at markets rather than through a brick-and-mortar store,” Weh was quoted as saying in the release.
The Fort Atkinson Farmers Market welcomes dogs that are accompanied by their owners. The market is located in the parking lot across from the Fort Atkinson Post Office.
Leashed dogs visiting SJWHomemade during the market are treated to a free sample.
The Fort Atkinson Farmers Market and the Monona Farmers Market each begin their seasons in May and run through to the end of October.
In Fort Atkinson, market hours are Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon.
In Monona, the market is held in Ahuska Park. Market hours are Sundays, 8: a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
SJWHomemade products are also found on the company’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
