Residents of Fort Atkinson and the broader area arrived Sunday in the community’s downtown to set up folding chairs and blankets in anticipation of the annual holiday parade.
The event has been a tradition in Fort Atkinson for 27 years.
In Fort Atkinson on Sunday, the air was crisp and the skies were clear, as some 46 parade entrants made their way along Milwaukee Avenue, turning north at the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Main Street, and then moving through the city’s downtown to the parade’s termination point near the intersection of Main Street and Madison Avenue.
Among entrants, parade-goers were treated to a wide array of floats, decorated trucks and ATVs, along with marchers representing myriad community institutions and businesses. The parade included participation from two equestrian groups, and a handsome team of draft horses, which pulled a carriage carrying “Santa and Mrs. Claus” through the streets lined with their many fans.
Information released by the Fort Atkinson Area Chamber of Commerce noted that this year’s parade was sponsored by Enbridge and Homes for Independent Living, A MyPath Company.
