Event-goers lined the streets in Jefferson Saturday as some 40 parade entrants made their way along the city’s Main Street.
In its 27th year, the parade, facilitated through the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, was sponsored by Generac, along with such partners as Alden Estates of Jefferson, Badger Bank, Thrivent Michael Stade, FCCU, Jefferson County Agri-Business, Gemütlichkeit Days, and the Jefferson 1/2 mile ATV Club.
The enthusiasm of the parade was not dampened by intermittent drizzle, as a dazzling array of lighted floats, trucks, and even people, marched along the city’s designated downtown route.
“Santa and Mrs. Claus,” arriving by firetruck, were a highlight of the parade. The jolly ole couple, following the parade, arrived at “Santa’s house,” which was located near a BP gas station along the parade route.
A line, some 15 people deep, assembled immediately after the parade in anticipation of meeting the Christmas couple, with children eager to speak with the Clauses about their hopes and plans for this holiday season.
Santa’s house, this year, is sponsored by the Jefferson Main Street Association.
The house will be open, offering opportunities for area children to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus, on the following dates: Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 9 and 10, and Dec. 16 and 17, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Santa’s house is found in the alleyway between the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce office, 230 S. Main St., Jefferson, and a BP gas station.
The event is free and open to the public.
