Spring General Election absentee voting begins Tuesday

Members of the electorate interested in voting using an absentee ballot in the 2022 Spring General Election may do so starting Tuesday, March 22. 

The election will be held Tuesday, April 5. 

The deadline to request a ballot for the spring general election is Thursday, March 31, according to the City of Fort Atkinson website. Requests must be received before 5 p.m. 

Ballots may be returned up until Friday, April 1, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to the city clerk’s office at the Fort Atkinson Municipal Building, 101 N. Main St. 

According to the city’s website, there are several ways to request an absentee ballot. 

For those who are already registered to their current voting address, a ballot can be mailed to that address by visiting: MyVote.wi.gov. 

Additionally, an application for an absentee ballot can be requested by visiting the Wisconsin Elections Commission website: https://elections.wi.gov/forms/EL-121-english.

Forms or written requests for an absentee ballot also can be emailed to the Fort Atkinson city clerk’s office: miebbert@fortatkinsonwi.net, or dropped off at the municipal building. 

A copy of the applicant’s photo ID must be included with the application, according to the website. 

Those interested in voting in-person using an absentee ballot may do so at the Fort Atkinson city clerk’s office until Friday, April 1. A photo ID is required for in-person absentee voting.
