St. Joseph Catholic School celebrated the feast day of “Our Lady of Guadalupe” Tuesday, according to information released by Principal Kari Homb.
According to the release, students and staff quieted their minds and hearts “while Msgr. Heiar prayed for all of us and blessed the Lady of Guadalupe statue, prayer cards and student intentions.”
The release noted that the St. Joseph School (SJS) Art Enrichment Committee donated the funds to purchase the Lady of Guadalupe statue.
“This beautiful symbol will be located in the school building for all to enjoy and honor,” Homb wrote within the release.
During the gathering, students and staff members prayed, Homb wrote.
“In closing, Miss Alondra Valadez, cousin to our SJS students Viviana and Valeria sang “La Guadalupana,” the release noted, adding that she was wearing a hand-stitched dress made for her in Mexico.
Homb, within the release, described the ceremony as “filled with joy.”
In preparation of the ceremony, Homb wrote, fifth-grade students prepared the younger kindergarten through third-grade students by performing “Our Lady of Guadalupe” Reader’s Theatre.
Funded through donations from the St. Joseph School Art Enrichment Committee, an “Our Lady of Guadalupe” statue has been installed within the school building. Students celebrated the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Tuesday.
