Students, community assemble for senior scholarship awards ceremony

By Kim McDarison

This year’s Fort Atkinson High School Senior Scholarship Ceremony marked a return to in-person participation, with parents and guests assembling in the Fort Atkinson High School auditorium Wednesday, as community members and organizations awarded more than $528,000 in scholarship money to the community’s graduating seniors. The event was live-streamed last year as a COVID-19 precaution, with students and presenters only appearing in-person.

During Wednesday’s ceremony, 50 presenters, representing some 92 organizations and individual givers of more than 80 scholarships, many of which awarded multiple recipients, invited 73 Fort Atkinson High School seniors to join them on the school’s auditorium stage to receive recognition and gifts.

Included this year were two new scholarships: The Terry Beck Protective Services Scholarship and the Bretl Family Leadership Award.
