Temps, snow add to success of Haumerson’s candlelight ski, skate, hike

Mother Nature’s recent 7-inch snowstorm followed by several days of bitter temperatures were just what was needed to hold the annual Family Candlelight Ski, Skate and Hike at Haumerson’s Pond in Fort Atkinson Saturday.

The event was held from 2 to 8 p.m.

Attendees were able to hike, snowshoe and ski on the Bark River Nature Trail, ice-skate and play hockey on the frozen pond, toast marshmallows on the campfires and enjoy snacks sitting by the fireplace in the warming house.

Hosted by the Friends of Haumerson’s Pond, the free event was cosponsored by Butch’s Auto Body, Fort HealthCare, PremierBank, Rock River Dental and Wayne Hayes Real Estate.
