Folks at Ozinga, an Illinois-based concrete supplier, are busy preparing the “Merry Mixer,” a lighted cement mixing truck owned and operated by the company, for its debut in the Fort Atkinson Holiday Parade, set for Nov. 13.
The decorated cement mixing truck’s first holiday appearance this year is scheduled for today. The truck, with its 32,000 programmable lights and other decorations, will be participating in holiday activities in Shipshewanna, Ind.
The parade in Fort Atkinson is the second stop on the truck’s holiday itinerary this year.
In all, the truck is scheduled to make 24 stops in communities across Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin.
Animated lighting sequences attached to the truck react to some 11 favorite Christmas songs, Ozinga Communications Director Kristi Munno recently told Fort Atkinson Online.
The Merry Mixer was created in 2017, Munno said.
In the beginning, a truck was pulled from the company’s fleet and outfitted with holiday lights. Two years ago, the company dedicated a truck as the Merry Mixer. Spreading cheer is the vehicle’s only function, Munno added.
The truck had some time off from making appearances as a result of COVID-19, she said. This year, with the addition of a few more decorations, the truck is ready to go.
