Two-car collision in Ixonia leaves one dead, another seriously injured

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported Saturday that a two-car collision in the town of Ixonia has resulted in the death of a motorist. A second motorist is reported to have serious injuries. 

According to Jefferson County Sheriff Paul Milbrath, deputies responded to the scene of the crash on State Highway 16, at the intersection of County Trunk SC, at 11:05 a.m.

A preliminary investigation showed that both vehicles were traveling westbound on State Highway 16, when the first vehicle, which was traveling in front of the second, slowed down near County Truck Highway SC and began to execute a U-turn in front of the second vehicle. The vehicle was struck on the driver’s side. The operator of the first vehicle received fatal injuries. The operator of the second vehicle was seriously injured, and transported to a local hospital, the release stated.  

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Canadian Pacific Railroad Police, Jefferson County Emergency Communications, Ixonia Fire Department, Ixonia EMS, Watertown EMS, Watertown Fire Department and the Jefferson County Medical Examiner.

The incident remains under investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the release noted.
