Two dead after single-vehicle crash in Palmyra

The following information has been released by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. 

Sheriff Paul Milbrath reports that on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 8:24 p.m., deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 106 near Calkins Road in the town of Palmyra.

Preliminary investigation at the scene shows that the driver of a vehicle traveling northbound on State Highway 106 lost control and entered the ditch. The vehicle struck a culvert which caused the vehicle to overturn and one of the two occupants was ejected from the vehicle.  Both of the occupants succumbed to their injuries on scene.    

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Palmyra PD, Palmyra Fire and EMS, Western lake EMS, Sullivan Fire and Jefferson County Emergency Communications for traffic control.

The incident is still being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
