The Rock River Coalition, Ball Corp, and River Network are hosting a weeklong, virtual and in-person Rock River basin and Fort Atkinson cleanup event in August.
The event, called: “By Water & By Land, Let’s All Lend a Hand,” will take place between Aug. 1 and 7.
Activities are as follows:
From Aug. 1-6, participants can collect trash right in their own community, and record what they’ve collected and where, utilizing the Litterati App on an electronic device.
Friends and family are invited to join in and see who can collect the most pieces. There are even opportunities to win cool prizes, organizers noted in a recent press release.
On Saturday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., participants are invited to gather, in-person, at Ralph Park, 600 Jefferson St., in downtown Fort Atkinson to help clean up the community. Participants are asked to check-in at 9 a.m., collect supplies, which will be provided, and disperse to collect trash and recyclable materials found throughout the area. Participants can compete for cool prizes, according to the release.
Participants will reconvene at 11:30 a.m. to drop off the litter, and then “enjoy some food and fun,” the release continued.
Participation is free and registration is required. To register, visit the Rock River Coalition website, or click here: https://secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/TqxiqoyTM1FZVy33Oqkg8.
