Whitewater: Drawing instruction to begin at Wisconsin Makers

Weekly drawing instruction will be offered at the Wisconsin Makers building, 200 E. Clay St., Whitewater, according to information released by organizers of the Whitewater Art Club.

The first club meeting focusing on drawing instruction will be held Thursday, Feb. 2, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Club participation is free and open to the public, and activities are open to members of all ages.

Instruction will be offered by Whitewater resident Mike Alvarez, who owns Handy Mike LLC, a handyman service, according to the release.

“He particularly enjoys drawing, painting, woodcarving, woodworking and pottery,” the release stated, further noting that he plans to expand the club to one day hold instruction in those art forms.

“I want to integrate every part of the community, from the seniors to the little kids, so everyone can come and participate,” Alvarez was quoted as saying in the release.

Alvarez is bilingual and noted within the release that he hopes to generate interest from the Latino community.
