Whitewater library offers in-person craft time for kids, adults

The Irvin L. Young Memorial Library in Whitewater is offering in-person Craft Time for Kids starting in August.

It takes place at 4:30 p.m. every other Monday: Aug. 2, 16 and 30.

Persons unable to attend may pick up the weekly craft kit and follow along with the instructional video on Facebook or YouTube.

Craft Time for Adults

The Whitewater Public Library is offering in-person Craft Time for Adults at 4:30 p.m. every other Monday: Aug.  9 and 23.

Storytime with the Author

A special Saturday Storytime with author Kaylor Wiedenbeck of Waterloo will take place outside on the library lawn Saturday, Aug. 7, at 10:30 a.m.

YAAASSS bags

YAAASSS (Young Adult Amazingly Awesome Super Subscription Service) bags are available for students in grades 6-12.

Request a free YAAASSS Bag from the library to receive a hand-picked library book and goodies galore. Just visit whitewaterlibrary.org/teens.asp and fill out the form.

A public library card is required, and only one bag is allowed per student per month. Participants must register each month.

Landlord, tenant rights Zoom topic

Landlord and Tenant Rights and Responsibilities under Wisconsin Law is the topic for a Zoom program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17.

The Wisconsin Bureau of Consumer Protection will present information on landlord and tenant rights and responsibilities. As part of the presentation, landlord and tenant resources will be available. 

As Wisconsin’s lead agency for consumer protection, the Bureau of Consumer Protection at the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection, provides information and education, mediates complaints, investigates cases, and takes enforcement actions to fight fraudulent and deceptive practices that harm consumers and honest businesses.  

Organizing Life with School-age Children

Organizing Your Life with School Age Children and Teaching Them to Organize Theirs is the topic for a program Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 6 p.m.

The public may attend this program in person at the Whitewater library or register at whitewaterlibrary.org to receive a virtual meeting link.

This presentation is a mix of some basic organizational tips for people to apply at home and important information to share with kids so that they can more easily organize the information received at school. 

It will look at what it means for a child to be responsible, and then explore specific organizational tools that can be applied at home by the adults and serve as a powerful example to the kids. Next, discussion turns to practical examples of what the kids can do to learn to be responsible and organized. Finally, the program will look at how to maintain the new habits or organization.

Fiber Therapy Craft Group

The Fiber Therapy Craft Group will hold a virtual Zoom meeting Thursday, Aug. 26, at 6 p.m.

Do you dabble in the fiber arts? Whether one knits, crochets or stitches, everyone is invited to unwind and unravel with fellow crafters. Share what you’re working on and learn from others. Beginners and experts are welcome. 

This is not a formal class. Attendees must supply their own crafting materials.
