Wisconsin Singers to perform at Fort High School

The Wisconsin Singers, a group described on its website as the “official ambassadors of goodwill” for the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will be performing at the Fort Atkinson High School, according to information released by the Fort Atkinson High School Choral Music Department.

The performance is sponsored in partnership with the Fort Atkinson VOICES parent organization and will be held Friday, March 8, at 7 p.m., in the high school’s performing arts center, 925 Lexington Blvd., Fort Atkinson.

Along with the 55-year-old Madison-based traveling group, the two-hour show will feature performances from the Fort Atkinson High School show choirs, including the South High Street Singers and The Lexington Singers.

This season, the Wisconsin Singers will present “When Opposites Attract,” described within the release as an “exhilarating pop music revue,” which “explores the variation in the world around us, and the unexpected greatness of bringing opposites and difference together.”

The performance will include medleys which explore “the contrast of hot and cold, the surprise of discovering what’s new and what’s old, the delicate balance of good and evil, and the tug of war between when to hold on and when to let go,” the release noted.

The release further describes the Wisconsin Singers as “nationally renowned,” with music ensemble of dancers, singers, and instrumentalists.

The show features some 50 songs, the release noted, and includes music from such artists as Tina Turner, Queen, Dolly Parton, and Michael Bublé, along with musical numbers from “Hamilton,” “Wicked,” “Some Like It Hot,” and other award-winning musicals, and tunes from movie soundtracks like “High School Musical,” “A Goofy Movie,” and “The Breakfast Club.”

According to the Wisconsin Singers’ website, the group was founded on the UW-Madison campus in 1967 and today “prides itself on creating spectacular touring productions while growing talents and nurturing future leaders.”

The group performs in more than 30 communities annually throughout the state and nation, providing a 90-minute show.

General seating tickets for the high school performance cost $25 per person. Tickets may be purchased through the following link: https://fortatkinsonpac.com/event/wisconsin-singers/
