Whitewater Arts Alliance to host ‘Hallow’s Gala’ exhibition; artists wanted

The Whitewater Arts Alliance (WAA) has announced it will be hosting a spooky gala art exhibition, titled: “Hallow’s Gala.”

The exhibition will be on display at the Whitewater Cultural Arts Center (CAC), 402 W. Main St., Whitewater, beginning Oct. 7 and running through Oct. 30. An online option to view the artwork will also be available from Oct. 29 to Nov. 27.  The virtual show will be available for viewing on the WAA website.

The show, which is co-chaired by Taylor McDarison, artist and manager of Arttaysia, LLC, and Nicole Holder, artist and manager of Harta Art, LLC, is open, according to a recent news release, “to lovers of the macabre, folklore, mythology and the gothic.”

Member of the community, the arts alliance, students, and other area artists are invited to submit work.

Work submitted to the show can be 2D or 3D and should include a Halloween or fantasy-related theme.

Submitted pieces being offered for sale must be original work, the release noted.

Additionally, source materials must be original and not derived from any published images or copyrighted work/commercial patterns.

Artists can submit non-original works, such as Jack Skellington, as long as they are not being offered for sale, the release stated.

Artists can submit up to four pieces. All works must be submitted to Taylor McDarison via email: arttaysia.llc@gmail.com.

Those entered in the show will have the opportunity to compete for Best of Show, with the recipient awarded $150, and Viewer’s Choice, with the recipient awarded $50.

Important dates associated with the exhibition include:

  • Sept. 18: Submission deadline for applications by 11:59 p.m.
