Fort Atkinson city officials have announced that several warm-weather road and utility projects are slated to begin Friday.
Slated right-of-way projects will focus on water main replacements as follows: all of Cloute Street; a portion of Zaffke Street, between Caswell and Messmer streets; Caswell Street, between Roosevelt and Zaffke streets, and Nelson Street, between Messmer Street and Madison Avenue.
In addition, according to released information, sanitary sewer replacements will occur on the following roadways: Maple Street, between 6th and Park streets; Grant Street, between 6th and Park streets; Park Street, between Grant and Grove streets, and a short section of Grove Street, described as “just south of Park Street.”
Further, the release noted, all of Grove Street, between Park Street and Rockwell Avenue. will be repaved.
Looking at the order of projects, the release noted that water main replacement work will begin on Rogers Street, progressing next to Nelson, Cloute, Zaffke and Caswell streets. Sewer main replacement work will commence on Park Street over spring break, progressing next along Grant and Maple streets.
The School District of Fort Atkinson’s spring break, according to its website, will be held from March 25 through 29.
As stated in the city’s release, while work is underway, all roads will remain open to local residents who live on the affected streets, “except in short windows where work is occurring directly in front of their homes,” the release added.
The release advised that residents may be disconnected from water or sewer for short periods of time, defined as “a few hours,” while new services are connected.
“Residents will receive notice at least 24 hours in advance of these planned disruptions. Garbage collection will continue as scheduled,” the release stated.
Through-traffic should seek other routes around the work areas, the release concluded.
