The School District of Fort Atkinson recently honored seven members of the district’s Safety Patrol Program.
Students honored as February’s safety patrollers of the month, include:
Ella Ehlers and Genesis Tomas, both of Luther Elementary School; Elianna Cervantes Jaramillo and Aleigha Gess, both of Rockwell Elementary School; Phoenix Pucillo and Aubrey McConley, both of Purdy Elementary School, and Meara Kelly, of Barrie Elementary School.
The program offers training to fifth-graders at each of the district’s four elementary schools who would like to participate as safety patrollers at their respective schools.
Students then serve for a month, helping fellow students safely cross streets near their schools before and after school.
Students who show exemplary commitment to the service they provide are selected by their teachers and treated to lunch.
February’s safety patrollers were treated to lunch at Culvers.
David Geiger, Luther Elementary School principal, said the student’s enjoyed their lunch time together. The time was used “getting to know each other.”
This month’s group of safety patrollers was represented by female honorees.
“Thank you, girls, for all of your work in helping our younger students remain safe as they cross the streets near school,” the principal wrote in a recent release.
