Cream City Brass Band/LaPreferida

Those attending the performance scheduled for July 8 will be treated to the sounds of the Cream City Brass Band.

Founded in Milwaukee, but born from the tradition of New Orleans jazz and second-line parades, the Cream City Brass Band, according to a press release submitted by the alliance, exists to honor the heritage of Louisiana brass bands, through its interpretations of jazz standards and current music styles.

The band has performed at Milwaukee’s Summerfest and in Turner Hall, and, the release continues, holds a high reputation in the Milwaukee music scene. Members of the group have grown up together as peers and mentors.

“This modern brass band weaves together diverse genres to create a unique, funky sound that keeps its roots in the legendary Crescent City,” the release states.

Food at the event will be provided by LaPreferida.

Cole and Company/Subway

On July 15, Cole and Company, described in the release as a family music group, consisting of Professor Carl A. Cole, who plays piano and sings, his wife, Dianna, who also sings, and their son, Andrew, who plays bass and drums, will entertain event-goers with “top-quality music,” including genres of spirituals, gospel, blues, jazz, R & B/soul and pop.

Food at the event will be provided by Subway.

Tapestry/The Sweet Spot

Tapestry, performing July 22, is described in the release as a collective group of five local musicians “woven together in a multifaceted collection of musical styles and flavors,” further describing the group as coming from musically diverse backgrounds, which is combined to form traditional, but unique acoustic sound. The band plays music from the 1920s to current folk music.
