The Generac-sponsored Holiday Parade will be held Friday, Dec. 2, in Whitewater, according to information supplied by event organizer Downtown Whitewater, Inc.
Downtown Whitewater, Inc., is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization formed to promote the city’s history and traditions, according to its website.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
This year, organizers have said, the parade route will be shortened to help participants navigate in cold temperatures.
The route is as follows: a staging area for parade participants is planned along S. Fourth St., behind First English Lutheran Church. From the staging area, the parade will move westbound along W. Whitewater streets, moving southeast on Whitewater Street, past Cravath Lakefront Park, completing its route at the intersection of Whitewater and S. Fremont streets.
The parade’s theme is “Color Your Holidays Happy.”
According to information provided by organizers, activities planned in advance of the parade include an opportunity to meet Santa, who will be on hand to greet fans between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. inside First Citizens State Bank, 1058 W. Main St., Whitewater, and visitors to the Discover Whitewater office, 150 W. Main St., will find a s’mores and hot cocoa station operating between 5:30 and 6 p.m.
Additionally, visitors to the downtown area of Whitewater will find storefronts decorated as part of the “Windows of Whitewater Decorations” activity hosted by the Whitewater Area Chamber of Commerce.
After the parade, a cookie-decorating and chili dinner event will be held at the Living Word Fellowship Church, 212 W. Main St., Whitewater.
