FCCU representatives Lozano, Huser, earn financial counseling certification

Two members of the Fort Atkinson Credit Union (FCCU) staff have earned a designation of “Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor,” according to information recently released by the credit union.

Kendra Lozano, a member service representative, and Theresa Huser, a consumer loan officer, have achieved the certification, the release stated.

As noted in the release, the two employees received their certifications by completing a “Financial Counseling Certification Program,” offer by the Credit Union National Association.

The program involves self-study, webinars, and rigorous testing with the aim to identify financial challenges and provide effective intervention not typically offered by for-profit financial institutions,” the release read.

With this certification,  Lozano and Huser will join FCCU’s team of financial coaches, the release noted, with a mission of helping members identify goals, raise their credit score to qualify for better rates, reduce loan delinquencies, and improve their overall financial wellbeing, according to the release.

Additionally, the release noted, Lozano is bilingual and will use her Spanish communication skills to assist and advocate for individuals within the Hispanic community.

Both newly certified employees were described as “perfect candidates” for the certification program, by FCCU Director of Business and Community Development Whitney Townsend.

Individuals certified through the program are required to undergo recertification every three years, the release noted, a process designed to keep them current with industry best practices.
