Nathan Scott Reed

Nathan Scott Reed, age 51, of Fort Atkinson, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 29, 2024, while recovering after a hospitalization.

Nathan was born on July 26, 1972, in Ankara, Turkey as a U.S. military dependent, son of Scott and Karen (nee Lindl) Reed.  He grew up in the Fort Atkinson area and attended Fort public schools, where during high school he was active in football and chess club.  He worked at several local businesses early in his career, where he made lifelong friendships.

Nathan was hired at Rate Watch in Fort Atkinson in 2007 where he managed their financial call center until 2019 when the company left Fort Atkinson.  He truly loved working with and mentoring people of all ages.

He was a devoted son, friend and brother.  Nathan was a true Green Bay Packer fan and football season was his favorite time of year.  His favorite hobbies included gaming with friends and family, reading, watching movies, studying history, and playing golf with his brother Brian.

Nathan had a keen interest in World War II which led to naming his long-time yellow labrador companion, Winston.  Nathan was a reserved, unassuming, kind soul with a big heart, who always loved to find the right Christmas gifts for his nephews.

Nathan is survived by his mother, Karen Reed, Jefferson, WI; father and step-mother Scott and Kathy Reed, Florida; brother Brian (Jana) Reed and nephews Connor and Harrison, Oregon, WI; sister and brother in law, Shannon Reed (Rob Rudolph) and nephews Charlie, Andrew and Cameron, Fort Wayne, IN; step-brother Chris (Jennifer) Reed and nephew and niece Ethan and Kennedy, Florida; and many dear aunts, uncles cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by grandparents, Robert and Lorraine Lindl; and Lloyd and Evelyn Reed.

We cherish our memories.  Nathan is with us forever in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held at Dunlap Memorial Home on Friday, March 8th at 11:00am with visitation from 9:00am until time of service.  Burial will follow the service at the Cushman Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Jefferson County in Nathan’s honor.
