Organizers of the Jefferson County Fair have announced that the winner of the 2024 fair poster design contest is Deerfield High School student Savanna Renteria.
According to a recent release, Renteria’s poster captured the essence of this year’s fair theme: “Red, White & Blue … This Fair’s for You!”
Organizers further described the winning poster as having a “vibrant and imaginative design.”
“Savanna’s winning entry features a delightful array of farm animals and fair favorites, including a rooster, a sheep, a tractor, and an assortment of delicious fair foods. In her own words, Savanna described her inspiration for the poster: ‘I decided to put the tractor in because one of the main events of the fair is the tractor and truck pulling contests. Since the theme of this year’s fair is Red, White, and Blue, I decided to have the flag come out of the muffler and have it fade out into red, white, and blue smoke.’” the release read.
Additionally, the release stated, the poster’s creative vision includes “cartoonish-style animals, recognizing that many children come to the fair to see various animals.”
Organizers noted that Renteria’s design “stood out among the entries for its bold colors, attention to detail, and clever interpretation of the theme.”
As the first-place winner, Renteria received a grand prize of $250, and complimentary fair admission for her family. A second-place winner is Sarah Wagner, of Sussex, for her poster portraying the events, activities, and memories of the county fair in a colorful and patriotic design, the release noted.
Renteria’s artwork will be prominently featured on this year’s fair t-shirt and will be available in print for fair attendees to take home “as a cherished memento of their experience,” the release continued.
“We are thrilled to have Savanna’s vibrant design as the face of our fair this year. Her creativity and talent truly capture the spirit of our community celebration. We look forward to showcasing her artwork and welcoming visitors to enjoy all the festivities the fair has to offer,” Becky Roberts, Jefferson County Fair Park director, was quoted as saying in the release.
