Kathleen Patricia Baio

Kathleen Patricia Baio, born into life on November 18th, 1940, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord on May 5, 2024. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, nurse, grandmother, aunt, and friend to so many.

She is preceded in passing by her mother Jeanne Daniher, her father William J. Daniher, brother William J. Daniher Jr., father-in-law Carl Baio, mother-in-law Beulah Baio, brother-in-law Paul Baio, sister-in-law Kathy Ward, and is survived by her brother, Patrick Daniher and wife Debbie (Downers Grove, IL), sister Susan Richardson and husband Mark (Fargo, ND), brother Timothy Daniher and wife Marge (Chicago, IL), brothers-in-law Michael Baio and wife Donna, John Baio and Grace, Patrick Baio, son Anthony C. Baio and wife Catherine (Mokena, IL), daughter Nancy J. Baio (Chandler, AZ), son Peter W. Baio and wife Laura (Waunakee, WI), son Timothy J. Baio (Madison, WI), daughter Julie A. Sorensen and husband Patrick (Cedarburg, WI), and of course, her one and only true love, Carl Paul Baio of Fort Atkinson.

She was the proud grandmother of 13 loving grandchildren: Michael A. Baio, wife Brittany, Anthony C. Baio Jr. and Francis J. Baio (Tony), James C. Baio (Nancy), Daniel C. Baio and Elizabeth I. Baio (Peter), Case W. Baio, Carrick T. Baio, and Carmen J. Baio (Timothy), and Meghan K. Kuhl, Charlie P. and Avery F. Sorensen (Julie). Her love and pride extended also to her many nieces and nephews.

“Kath” started her life at 7820 S Constance Ave. Chicago, IL and spent carefree summers at South Shore beach with her brother Bill, mother, and father. She later attended Queen of Peace grammar school, St. Thomas the Apostle High School where she met the handsome and dashing Carl Paul Baio and later attended St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse in 1961. That same year she married Carl and eventually moved to Palos Heights after having baby Tony. In Palos there were many wonderful years with neighbors, friends, birthdays, baseball games, and especially fun times with the Bayless family–Larry, Bev, Chris and Curt.

Kathy worked at Little Company of Mary, St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island, Palos Community Hospital, and eventually at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital after moving with the family to Fort in 1979. She was a talented nurse who worked on ICU and recovery units for many years where she made several close friends and helped thousands of people.

In more recent years, she delighted in “Friday Morning Coffee” with the girls, visits from Cindy Olsen, her “Nursing Friends,” and her dear friends the Buells. And a constant source of support for Kath and her family was the expertise and love provided by Becky and Duane Johnson.

How blessed we all have been to know her, love her, and laugh with her through many holidays, birthdays, special moments, and stories. Please send your warm thoughts and well wishes to Kath, and may the road rise to meet you and may the wind be always at your back.
