Practices underway as Fort Community Band prepares for summer season; band members sought

Fort Atkinson Community Band Director Wayne Crook has noted in a recent news release that “a few more members in various sections would round out the balance on parts, and make for a real nice community band.”

Within his release, Crook noted that band rehearsals are underway, occurring on a weekly basis, in preparation of this, the 64th, summer season.

Band membership remains open to “area musicians who would enjoy performing in a concert band,” the director stated.

Musicians who play a band instrument are welcome, with the band particularly seeking clarinetists, the release read.

Membership is open to both adult and student musicians, the release continued.

Band rehearsals are held Mondays, between 7:30 and 9 p.m. at the middle school, 310 S. Fourth St., E., Fort Atkinson, in the school’s “band room,” Crook, within an earlier release.

This season’s Monday night concert dates include:  June 17, July 1, July 15, July 29, and Aug. 12.

Concerts are held in Fort Atkinson’s Barrie Park, 210 Roberts St.

This year, according to the band’s website, concerts held on June 17, July 1, and July 15 will begin at 7:30 p.m., while concerts held July 29 and Aug. 12 will begin at 7 p.m.
