Final FCCU 2022 community shred event slated for Oct. 8

Fort Community Credit Union (FCCU) has announced that it will be offering its final community shred event for this year Saturday, Oct. 8. The event will take place at the credit union’s Whitewater branch.

According to a recent press release, FCCU partnered with Shred-it to host a series of free shred events at each of its branches, including those in Fort Atkinson, Jefferson and Watertown, along with Whitewater.

The Whitewater branch is located at 203 E Milwaukee St. The event will be held between 9 a.m. and noon.

Community members are encouraged to bring their confidential documents to be safely and securely destroyed. FCCU representatives will be onsite to direct car traffic and assist with the transfer of documents to the shred truck, the release stated.

“We host our shred events to encourage community members to take preventative steps towards minimizing their risk of identity theft and protecting their hard-earned money. The simple act of disposing confidential documents safely will make a huge difference in the financial wellbeing of those in our community,” Danielle Frawley, FCCU executive vice president and chief experience officer, was quoted as saying in the release.

Dates for shred events planned in 2023 will be posted to the credit union’s website, the release noted.
