Organizers on Wednesday kicked off Fort Atkinson Summer Charity Concerts’ 10th season at Barrie Park.
On stage was 7000apart, a Swedish/American alt-pop band.
Kiwanians offered popcorn and freeze pops, with donations accepted. Volunteers sold t-shirts and coozies to support the concerts, which benefit the “Lend a Hand” program at Badgerland After-School Enrichment Program (BASE) and to support the concerts’ scholarship fund and other community engagement programs.
Also on hand were items for youngsters to play with and sidewalk chalk for drawing and writing messages.
The Wednesday concert series takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Bands scheduled are: June 28, Altar Boy Picnic and the Katie Scullin Band; July 12, Driftless; July 26, Fort Night Band; Aug. 9, John Masino Band, and Aug. 23, Matthew James and The Ramble.
After 7000apart’s first set, event founder Megan Hartwick thanked 2023 concert sponsors. They are:
Gold: IPEC, BKS Dental, Joanne Larson with Wayne Hayes Real Estate, Carla Haubenschild with Northwestern Mutual and Family Tree LLC.
Silver: MSI General, Badger Bank, Johnson Bank, Festival Foods and PremierBank.
Bronze: mK Cellular, Nitardy Funeral Home, Bare Fort Tax Service, Fort Community Credit Union, Paddy Coughlin’s Irish Pub, 10-62 Saloon, MR Plumber, TDS Telecom, Fort Atkinson Generals and a memorial to Andy Heine.
