St. Joseph’s to hold annual Fall Festival

St. Joseph Catholic Church and School in Fort Atkinson has announced it will be holding its annual Fall Festival.

The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, from 4 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 11, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., according to a recent news release.

The festival is a parish tradition that dates back several decades and will this year feature an expanded lineup of activities, including tacos, tamales and a trivia contest on Saturday night, and a grilled chicken and sweet corn dinner, live music, sidewalk chalk contest and a raffle with several valuable prizes on Sunday.

The festival will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1660 Endl Blvd.

Food and Entertainment

On Saturday evening, St. Joseph’s Hispanic Ministry will serve tacos and tamales from 4 to 7 p.m. in the parish hall. The food is available for a free-will donation and beer will be available for purchase. A trivia contest will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. for adults 18 years and older. There is a $5-per-player entry fee with a maximum of eight players per team, the release noted.

Sunday’s dinner, starting at 11 a.m., features grilled chicken, fresh corn on the cob, coleslaw and dessert. Coffee, water and milk are included with the meal; other refreshments are also available for purchase. Half-chicken dinners are $15 and quarter-chicken dinners are $13. Tickets are available in the Gathering Space at the church after 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday. Carryouts are also available. Dining will be available in the Parish Hall and under outdoor tents, the release stated. The Tapestry String Band will perform under the tents outdoors from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tapestry, hailing from the Fort Atkinson area, is a collective group of five musicians who form a traditional, but unique, acoustic sound, and in any given performance, will play and sing music from the 1920s through traditional and current music.

Kids 17 and under are invited to participate in a sidewalk chalk contest in front of St. Joseph Catholic School following the theme of “Pictures of God’s Love.” Artists can start chalking anytime between 9-11:15 a.m. and all masterpieces will be judged at 1 p.m. The cost to participate is $5, which can be paid on the day of the event. All funds collected will be used for future church youth events. For more information and to register for the chalk contest, visit bit.ly/StJoeChalkContest2022.
