The Town of Sullivan Historical Society has announced that it recently received a $2,000 donation from the Rome Raiders Baseball Team.
According to a recent press release this past summer, the Raiders collected money from the Rome and Sullivan Baseball History Book project, which documents the history of men’s’ amateur baseball in both Rome and Sullivan.
The Town of Sullivan Historical Society will use the money toward building repairs.
There still are some of the baseball history books available for a $20 donation. Interested persons may contact the historical society, Jim Wenzel or Kent Hoffman.
In addition to the donation from the Raiders, Jim Wenzel was able to secure a $,1000 donation from Eaton Corporation in Watertown, where he works. It also was given to the Town of Sullivan Historical Society and will be used for building repairs, according to the release.
“The Town of Sullivan Historical Society would like thank Jim Wenzel, Kent Hoffman, Rome Raiders Baseball Team, and Eaton Corporation for their generous donations,” representatives said.
The Town of Sullivan Historical Society will be hosting its final open hour for 2021 on Sunday, Oct. 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The museum is located in the old Rome State Graded School, located in Rome behind St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
