‘Cow Parade’ chairman gives thanks to community

Letter to the editor:

With Thanksgiving here, hopefully everyone gets a chance to slow down for awhile. And while I slow things down, I want to reach out to everyone who put a part of themselves into this project that we titled “The Fort Atkinson Cow Parade.”

Being that this began with the “Beautification Council,” I feel the beauty of this project, in the end, exceeded what l had envisioned. Because of the talent of Larry Schultz, each cow is not only beautiful, but touching emotions in people. To those of us who have put some, or all, of our lives into this business of feeding and breeding and the overall caring for dairy cows, it reaches inside of you in a different way.

But the surprise beauty of this project was to see the broad range of people who came forward and felt a desire to help in each their own way. From the donors who felt moved to be a part of this, to the great committee that was assembled, and to everyone who touched this in a big or small way, please take pride and joy in this great addition to the great community of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin.

Finally, thank you to the citizens of Fort Atkinson for their warm reception of the results of this project.

Alan Cook,

Chairman of the Fort Atkinson Cow Parade
