Organizers of the Discover Whitewater Series (DWS) Half Marathon, 5K, and W3 Fit Kid Shuffle have announced that they are preparing to again host the annual event Sunday, Sept. 18.
The community-oriented event has been taking place in Whitewater since 2013, according to a recent news release.
Organizers have also announced that Whitewater Manufacturing, a company specializing in gray castings and custom machining, according to its website, will once again serve as the title sponsor for the event.
According to the release, Whitewater Manufacturing is a fourth-generation, family-owned company, providing such services as welding, assembly, engineering, turning and milling, inspection and supply chain management, among others.
“They value hard work and strive to satisfy Whitewater’s needs with efficiency, which is what makes them such an excellent sponsor to the DWS,” the release stated.
As a result of the company’s sponsorship, the organizers of the athletic event are able to provide runners with free childcare, awards presented to individual age groups, a post-race community celebration, along with other amenities, the release noted.
According to the release, the event’s race course is designed to highlight features within Whitewater. Included among them is the company’s manufacturing plant.
Noting his appreciation of the company’s continued sponsorship, Greater Whitewater Committee Chairman Larry Kachel said within the release: “They have supported us for 10 years now and are always so wonderful to work with.”
